An Old Adobe Cottage in Alamos, Sonora

Our friends Steve and MaryJane have a house in Alamos
with a very nice casita on the property.

It is a very old adobe that has been remodeled,
and I think of it as being in a cottage style.

This long flight of steps lead from the house to the casita.

It is a bit unusual to see a pitched roof in Alamos.

The style of this building would fit in in many places around the world,
and the size is small but feels roomy inside.

The faded green shutter has a classic look to it.

I hope to show more of the adobe bodega,
beyond the casita, in a future post.

The window shows how thick the adobe walls are.

The frame with the diagonal corners is the window screen.
There is no glass; just the screens and the shutters.

The kitchen has the concrete cabinets that are typical here.

And the same in the bathroom: a concrete cabinet.

I like the reddish glazed tile...

...which contrasts nicely with the pebble floor.

This casita has a really nice feel to it.
