Stonework at Chiricahua National Monument

Last Fall I had the occasion to visit the Chiricahua Mountains
for the first time and I stopped by the Chiricahua National Monument
and loved the stone work at the Visitors Center.

The combination of the large stones at the bottom
in a rather free form style caught my attention.

My guess is that this was built in the 1930's.

This looks toward a more modern addition.

I think the architects did a good job of blending the old with the new.
It is good to have a clear differentiation between the two time periods.
